    If you are found eligible for treatment, our medical team will issue you a valid prescription through our pharmacy . You don't need an existing prescription to use AlternaMeds.

    After our provider has prescribed semaglutide, we send your prescription to a compounding pharmacy that is licensed in your state. Typically it will take 2-3 business days for the pharmacy to compound your medication and then it is shipped overnight.

    The first month includes the virtual consultation, medication, and shipping. Starting from the second month and beyond, it covers the multiple increases in medication. All monthly fees include doctor consultations and shipping costs.

  • What do I need to do to file an FSA reimbursement claim?
    To initiate a claim, you will need your AlternaMed invoice. In the event you can't find the invoice in your email, kindly reach out to help@alternameds.com to request a replacement invoice. Regarding the claims submission process, your FSA administrator at Alternameds typically has a preferred method. Certain administrators allow online claim submissions, while others may provide a specific form for completion.

  • What are the side effects of GLP-1’s?
    AlternaMeds-affiliated providers prescribe a GLP-1 medication called semaglutide. The side effects of semaglutide are generally mild and may improve within a few weeks of initiating treatment. The most common side effects comprise nausea, vomiting, stomach upset and pain, constipation, diarrhea, heartburn, acid reflux, belching, gas, dizziness, headaches, and fatigue. While severe side effects are infrequent, they can occur. These may include intestinal obstruction, thyroid cancer (observed only in animal studies so far), pancreatitis, gallbladder disease, low blood sugar, kidney disease, severe allergies, vision problems, rapid heartbeat, and suicidal thoughts or behaviors. Semaglutide is not recommended for use in patients with a family history of medullary thyroid carcinoma or Multiple Endocrine Neoplasia syndrome type 2.
